Lleyton Hewitt withdraws from ATP Washington Classic with injury

Lleyton Hewitt's US Open build up suffered another setback when injury forced him to retire during his first match at the ATP Washington Classic. Colombia's Alejandro Falla was leading 11th seed Hewitt 7-5 3-2 in their second round clash  when the Australian pulled out with a sore right calf muscle. It was Hewitt's second match of the US hardcourt season, following a first up defeat by Slovakia's Lukas Lacko in Atlanta last month. Hewitt is preparing for another crack at the US Open title he won in 2001. The Open starts on August 30 in New York. Falla will now meet Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic in the next round in Washington. Tipsarevic took advantage of American Sam Querrey's mistakes and found his serve late to beat the sixth-seed 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 in the second round. Quer ...
